A Wristband To Signal Your Willingness To Help

Have you ever been in a situation where you needed help but don’t know who to approach? How do we identify the caring commuters in our midst? 

The Caring SG Commuters wristband was piloted as an identifier of commuters who were willing to render assistance to others on public transport. By wearing the Caring SG Commuters Wristband, caring commuters signal their willingness to assist fellow commuters when travelling on our public transport.

Students from Chung Cheng High School (Yishun) wore the Caring SG Commuters wristbands, as part of the CARE By Chung Cheng project on 6 March 2019, to signal their desire to help.

To promote a caring commuting culture among youths, ITE College West students also organised publicity events on 12 September and 4 October 2019. On both occasions, the students set up a booth to create awareness of the Caring SG Commuters Movement. They encouraged fellow students to pen their thoughts on what it means to be a caring commuter, and to commit to showing care by wearing a wristband identifier. About 150 students pledged their commitment to be caring commuters.

Over time, we hope that commuters who require assistance can learn to identify the wristband and feel more comfortable asking for help. Together, we can foster a more caring and gracious commuting culture.
