Championing Care

For most people, the daily commute is about getting from one place to another.

However, for Joshua, every journey is an opportunity for him to help make commutes more joyful for everyone.
An elderly commuter who needed a seat on the train. A commuter who was unfamiliar with transfers needed to get to her destination.
These are just some examples of encounters Joshua experienced and was able to step in to play his part to help.
To better equip himself to help commuters, Joshua also decided to take the Caring Commuter Champion course to learn more about assisting commuters with different needs.
Witnessing Caring Act
Joshua shared with us how he first got inspired to help others.
He once noticed a commuter who helped a visually impaired commuter that was having difficulty finding his way to the train door.
The commuter approached the visually impaired commuter and guided him to the correct train door, assisted him as he boarded, and waited until he was safely on board before continuing on her own journey.
"It was not dramatic, but it was deliberate, respectful, and deeply human,"— Joshua Boo

This caring act showed Joshua that one can show care by paying attention to the people around us. Such caring gestures can help someone feel more inclusive and joyful in their commuting journey.

"Small actions like these may seem simple, but they can help create a more welcoming, gracious, and inclusive commuting environment for everyone. A caring commuter culture starts from everyday actions and leading by example."— Joshua Boo
