Inspiring caring commuters: Zhenghua Secondary Students create thoughtful e-Posters

In collaboration with the Public Transport Council (PTC), our class and other students from Zhenghua Secondary developed a series of e-posters promoting caring commuter behaviour. These e-posters were targeted at public transport users and were conceptualised based on real-life observations and experiential learning about empathy in shared spaces.

Conceptualisation of Posters

Building on our learnings and observations, we and the other Secondary 3 students took part in a unique Values-In-Action programme.  As part of this initiative, we participated in scenario-based simulations, observational exercises, the Caring Commuter Champion course, and attended an Assembly Talk by Mr. Alister Ong, a Caring Commuter Champion (Inspirer). The e-posters were created as a culmination of our learning journey, reflecting their understanding of caring commuter culture.

Inspiration and Design Process

We drew inspiration from diverse sources to create compelling visual messages.

Lim Yu Xuan Gwen from class 3D was motivated by real-life moments of kindness, believing that small actions create significant impact and hoping that the poster would encourage commuters to take the first step in helping others.

Chan Zi Xuan Debby from class 3D applied her understanding of the "3 A's" framework (Assess, Ask, Assist) from the Caring Commuter Champion course, to design her poster to make these steps memorable through simple pictures and clear instructions.

Ng Min En from 3C drew inspiration from various online infographics, to help viewers to understand how small acts create great impact.

Servillon Alanah Kristen Recomanta from class 3E strategically used bright colours and aesthetically pleasing designs to capture commuters’ attention and to promote a caring and inclusive public transport culture.

Reflection and Call to Action

Through creating these posters, we discovered countless ways to be caring commuters and became more awareness of struggles faced by disabled and elderly passengers. This project strengthened our empathy, patience, and confidence in helping others during daily commutes. Together, we can create a more caring and inclusive commuting experience environment for everyone.
