Caring Commuter Week 2023
10 November 2023
Organised by the Caring SG Commuters Committee, the Caring Commuter Week is an annual event which aims to foster a more caring commuting culture in Singapore.
Caring Carnival
Head down to our Caring Carnival on 4 November 2023, 1 - 8pm, at One Punggol, for a day of fun-filled learning and activities:
Witness the recognition of this year’s Caring Commuter Award winners and read about their acts of care;
Participate in a series of workshops and talks conducted by Public Transport Operators;
Hear from commuters with disabilities and other partners about their experience;
Engage in the Carnival activities and win special edition prizes;
Check out winning artworks from the “I can be a Caring Commuter Hero” Art Competition; and
Express your appreciation to Public Transport Workers and fellow commuters.
Caring Commuter Award 2023
The Caring Commuter Award recognises commuters who have demonstrated acts of care to others in need during their daily commute on public transport.

‘I Can Be A Caring Commuter Hero!’ Art Competition
More than 800 aspiring young artists shared their views on how they can create a pleasant and enjoyable journey for all onboard our public transport through art.

Caring Commuter Champions (Inspirers)
Our Caring Commuter Champions (Inspirers) will be introduced at the Caring Carnival! They are passionate individuals who have promoted the Caring Commuter movement in their community and are actively involved in our activities!
Visit our Facebook and Instagram from mid-November onwards to learn more about their stories and support to the caring commuting culture.

Join us at the ‘All Aboard a Joyful Ride’ roving exhibition! Check out tips on how to offer assistance to commuters with different needs at the following libraries:

From 30 October to 13 November, visit Go Ahead Singapore's website, social media or visit Punggol and Pasir Ris Bus Interchanges to find out what commuters can do to assist students with special needs when commuting on the public transport.

Care-in-Transit Roadshows
From 5 to 10 November, SBS Transit will be conducting " Care-in-Transit " roadshows at selected bus interchanges and MRT stations to share more about what you can do as a champion to help those in need.
Take the opportunity to put yourself in the shoes of a person with disability through simulated activities and experience some of the challenges he/she faces and even interact with persons with disabilities to hear directly about how you can make a positive difference in their journeys.
A little kindness goes a long way. Join us at the roadshows to discover how we can make travel inclusive on our public transport system!

From 3 November to 26 November, SMRT will be organising roadshows to showcase examples of how everyone can do their part to build an inclusive public transport environment.

Take the chance to learn more about caring behaviours and safety commuting tips while travelling on public transport.
Commuter Safety Engagement
In addition, learn tips from our friendly Bus Captains and Safety Team on how to best secure baby strollers onboard buses and board/alight buses safely to reduce mishaps.

“Commute with a Heart” Exhibition
From 5 November to 11 November, make a trip to Yishun Integrated Transport Hub to visit this exhibition curated by Tower Transit Singapore (TTS) to learn how persons with disabilities commute on public buses, and how other commuters like yourself can help to make their commutes better by lending a hand.
Through stories of real-life experiences from people living with disabilities and sharings from TTS staff on what motivates them to help commuters, you will learn about:
The challenges some commuters with disabilities face
Tips on how you can interact and offer your help
The purpose and use of a non-verbal communication tool
Join us on this journey and be part of the movement to support the creation of a caring commuting culture.
Caring Commuter Video Series
Experience a day in Anjang’s and Kenneth’s lives, appreciate their motivations as Caring Commuter Champions and learn how commuters like you and me can help make every public transport journey a joyful ride for all.

CARE Ride @ South West
The third edition of the CARE Ride @ South West will take place on 8 November 2023. It will be held on an MRT train for the first time. 36 Primary Six students from Lianhua Primary School and youth volunteers from both Bukit Gombak EAGLES Interact Club and Rotaract Club of Bukit Gombak would be assisting seniors residing in the Hillgrove precinct on a train ride from Jurong East MRT Station to Bukit Gombak MRT Station.
CARE Ride aims to encourage intergenerational bonding among commuters. It encourages younger commuters to be more aware and mindful of senior commuters in their midst, and to have more empathy and willingness to help, making public transport journeys more purposeful and joyful for all.
Look out for these young caring commuters during your commute on that day!

Even if you are unable to join us at the Caring Carnival, you can still be part of the movement by following these 4 simple steps during your daily commute!
Give Time: Be patient and slow down around others in need.
Give Care: Look out for commuters who may need help.
Give a Hand: Readily offer help to commuters who may need it.
Give Thanks: Say thanks to commuters who have offered help.
Together, we can do our part to create a caring commuting culture for all!
